Maddox Bucinski will continue his academic and athletic career 4 more years while playing football and baseball at Manchester University. What made you choose Manchester University? "I found out about Manchester by accident, I heard Logan Schultz committed to Marian, and when I went to a camp I got Manchester and Marian mixed up and started talking to their head coach. I was invited out to a gameday and I liked the atmosphere and small town feel of the campus." What is your favorite memory of playing sports while participating as a student-athlete at Winamac? "Some of my favorite memories are from the locker room before practice and after practice and being able to be around my friends" Was playing a collegiate sport something that you always wanted to do? "Yes, I wasn't sure what level. When I was little I dreamed at playing D1 but as I got older I realized my skill level and being more realistic I knew I needed to look at something smaller. I also can't believe I'll be playing two." When did you realize playing two sports could be a possibility? "I was on a visit for incoming students and in the middle of our tour I got a text from the baseball coach, and he invited me to lunch with the current team and after the tour he started to talk to me about possibilities and he brought me in for a couple camps." Who were people along the way that helped you achieve this goal? "Obviously my parents and being there to support me, and god just the way he made my character and the person that I am. My family and friends and all the people who supported me all these years" What would you say to other student-athletes who are on the fence about wanting to play football and baseball? "If it's something you're really passionate about then just go for it, because that shows how much your care about the sport"
